Week Update

Well, folks, we have all been sick at the Pfeffer house this last week. It started with Doug and Darcy having the same fever in the same night. Well, Doug had not been feeling well all weekend last weekend, and then on Sunday night they both had the fever. So we loaded up and made the trek into town on Monday morning. Lo and behold, Doug had something unidentifiable, but very contagious and similar to strep. Darcy had a sinus infection. Along about Wednesday, what do you know but I started to feel puny. Thursday morning saw another trip to the doctor for me, and I had caught what Doug had. Luckily Darcy did not get it and just stuck with her sinus infection. We are all on medication and glad to be doing better now, though. But let me just tell you, it is not a fun week with everyone in the house ALL day sick. No pics from this week, believe me, you don't want to see the snot that flew around here.

On another note, I did finish the book I spoke of last blog, Rhett Butler's People. It is a tale that starts with Rhett as a child and follows him through past the days of Gone With The Wind. I'll say that I did enjoy this book as a follow up, or alternative, to GWTW, and it gave an interesting perspective of the Civil War, as well as Rhett's part in Scarlett's story. I don't know how many of you saw the A & E special Scarlett that followed her through the years after GWTW ended, but I enjoyed this version of those years a lot more. It seemed to fit in more with the story than the TV show did. While I did enjoy the book, I almost put it down at a few points with the intention of not finishing it. I usually like my books to be Disney-esque.... give me a clean story with little heartache, and a happy ending. This book had many characters die and a lot of heartache in it, although I know that's how those times tended to be and it did represent that very well. So, all in all, I would recommed this book to the GWTW lover, or those who don't have the heart to sit through that long novel, but still want to read the story. It's very well written and entertaining.

I promise I will have some pics up next time. Maybe I can come up with something cute for Darcy to do...

Until next time...
