Spring... I Mean Summer, Is Almost Here

Are you kidding?  It's already May, and we're in the countdown for the end of school.  The days are getting hotter.  Summer is right around the corner.  Where did spring go?  And what did we do?  Well, it might have went by in a flash, but we did all of our normal spring events... including Easter festivities, birthed a few dozen goat babies, and enjoyed the weather and cool evenings.  We could have done with a few more of those 'April Showers' but I'm sure we'll catch up on those one of these days.

Bucket List

Let's talk about 'Bucket Lists.'  First of all, most people that have a bucket list have things on their 'list' that I think are just plain cra-azy.  Here in the Pfeffer household, we don't do crazy things.  We don't even have the desire to do crazy things.  (Blame that on the Cradduck side of the family.)  I mean, you're talking to people that live in 2014, and have never been on a plane.  Ok?

So when I say that seeing Willie Nelson in concert was on my bucket list, take it with a grain of salt.  That 'list' is very short.  And somewhat unexciting.

Meanwhile, back in 2013, Doug and I had our 10 year wedding anniversary.  No big trip or plans, in fact, we worked all day and stayed at home that night.  But I told him we were going to do 'something.'  When I found out Willie was going to be in Austin on my birthday, it was like divine intervention.  And I bought tickets approximately 4 minutes after they went on sale.  SECOND ROW BABY!

So on New Year's Eve, we traveled to Austin, checked into our downtown hotel, and walked to Austin City Limits, where the concert was.  Right there on Willie Nelson Blvd.  We had a good time, but discovered we're older than we thought when we realized it would be midnight before Willie played!  We're used to early nights these days.

Waiting for Willie

I have been wanting to see Willie play since before college.  And I had an opportunity to see him in College Station and regrettably, didn't get to.  Something about mid-terms and everybody wanted to study instead (excuses...).  Anyways, I figured time might be running out to see him, so we better go while we could.  We had a blast and he definitely held his end of the bargain up by singing and playing for an hour and a half straight!  I was truly impressed.  Most singers take breaks or have back up players/singers and Willie had none of that.  It was him and Trigger.  And he was great.  I won't tell you how many pictures and videos I took that night.  But here's a small taste.

We were close, y'all.  And we had a blast.  Given the opportunity, I would go see him again in a heartbeat.  Still a great performer, even at the age of 80!

Another Birthday Gone

So, there's a little redhead in the family that had a birthday.  A 3rd birthday.  Dinosaurs are his thing right now.  And this great cupcake-cake came from none other than our local HEB!  While talking to the lady in the bakery and finding out they were out of the supplies to do the run of the mill/in the book dinosaur cake, she said she could make this!  So we went with it and we all looked like smurfs for the next few days! (apparently blue icing is very potent.)

And what else does a three year need for his birthday, than his own bike!?  (And dinosaurs, legos, clothes, etc too)  No more pushing him around on a too-big bike.  He can go on his own!

Heaven help us, he has no fear.  Let's hope he doesn't do too much damage now that he has his own wheels.

Winter Update

My, where has the time gone?? 2013 has come and gone.  Christmas, New Years, my birthday, all gone.  So what has been going on in Mountain Home?  A LOT.  School, family gatherings, stock showing (for the first time), work, work, and more work.  And throw a gaggle of animals and some freezing weather in there too.

Darcy showed goats in her 1st Stock Show this year!  She did really well in the ring and we were really proud of the way she handled herself and her goats!

And the weather this year!  Geez!  We've had more delayed-start school days in the past two months than Darcy has seen in her school career combined!  Even missed a day, so looks like we'll be going to school on Good Friday.  We're just not used to such things, here in the Texas Hill Country.  So I thought this was fitting for our February.

Well, I say all the time I'm going to try to be better about posting, but this time I mean it.  Look for more posts from me in the coming months.  I plan on starting to post not only family updates, but product reviews and interesting tidbits from my entrepreneurial endeavors.  Cheers for now!

End of School = Summer!

Darcy made it through Kindergarten!  She passed with flying colors (of course!) and was promoted to 1st Grade!  Every year the Divide School has an awards program, and the principal talks about each kid.  Easy to do when there's only 13 of them!

Here is the entire Divide School!  All of the kids (minus one who was sick) and teachers.
