Whoa... It's been a YEAR!

Well, I've just started another page on our blog to chronicle our journey of building a house.  Check it out!  (At the top of the page, click 'Our Barndominium)  AND I realized that it's been almost a YEAR since I posted on here?!?  My how time flies!

7th Stitch Fix

Soooo....   What have we been doing all of this time, you ask?  Well, a lot.  We've had more birthdays, celebrated Christmas, played basketball, raised show animals, showed show animals....

And we are currently enjoying spring and all that goes with it.  Green grass, fresh produce, and spring rains!

Another Birthday Gone

So, there's a little redhead in the family that had a birthday.  A 3rd birthday.  Dinosaurs are his thing right now.  And this great cupcake-cake came from none other than our local HEB!  While talking to the lady in the bakery and finding out they were out of the supplies to do the run of the mill/in the book dinosaur cake, she said she could make this!  So we went with it and we all looked like smurfs for the next few days! (apparently blue icing is very potent.)

And what else does a three year need for his birthday, than his own bike!?  (And dinosaurs, legos, clothes, etc too)  No more pushing him around on a too-big bike.  He can go on his own! 

 

Heaven help us, he has no fear.  Let's hope he doesn't do too much damage now that he has his own wheels.



Winter Update

My, where has the time gone?? 2013 has come and gone.  Christmas, New Years, my birthday, all gone.  So what has been going on in Mountain Home?  A LOT.  School, family gatherings, stock showing (for the first time), work, work, and more work.  And throw a gaggle of animals and some freezing weather in there too. 

Darcy showed goats in her 1st Stock Show this year!  She did really well in the ring and we were really proud of the way she handled herself and her goats!

 

 

And the weather this year!  Geez!  We've had more delayed-start school days in the past two months than Darcy has seen in her school career combined!  Even missed a day, so looks like we'll be going to school on Good Friday.  We're just not used to such things, here in the Texas Hill Country.  So I thought this was fitting for our February.

 

 

 

 

Well, I say all the time I'm going to try to be better about posting, but this time I mean it.  Look for more posts from me in the coming months.  I plan on starting to post not only family updates, but product reviews and interesting tidbits from my entrepreneurial endeavors.  Cheers for now!



Dog Days of Summer

We'll do anything to stay cool on these hot summer days here in Texas.

Even if it means mixing a bucket of sand and water to put our feet in.

And then there was Lucky...

On New Years Day, we made an addition to the family. Lucky, the beagle puppy came home to us. Some friends had his parents and offered him to us. We had wanted to get Darcy a puppy at some point, but had just not been ready for it. Plus we were looking at other breeds. This beagle came as a surprise and a hurried decision. It probably wasn't the best time for us to add a puppy to the menagerie, but Darcy was thrilled, and still is. Lucky is a good puppy and was pretty well house trained in two weeks. At 8 weeks old, Doug had him sitting on command. He's very smart, and has a lot of character. Over all, he's been a great puppy, and we're glad we made that rushed decision to get him. I think both kids will enjoy growing up with a dog like Lucky.

And by the way, Darcy named him after Lucky in '101 Dalmations,' just in case you were wondering.
